The 'Musicant el Museu Frederic Marès' cycle is back

This series of classical music concerts will be held in the Frederic Marès Museum

One of the most enchanting cultural facilities in Barcelona’s Gothic Quarter, the Frederic Marès Museum hosts the collections of its founder, the sculptor Frederic Marès (1893-1991), and was donated to the city in 1946. The museum is currently staging the second edition of the cycle Musicant el Frederic Marès, with morning sessions that aim to convert the halls housing the museum’s permanent exhibition in concert halls that host a dialogue between art and music.

The first session in this year’s schedule is set for noon of 22 January. Titled El violoncel de Gaspar Cassadó, it will take place in the study-library of the museum and will feature Irma Bau and Nico Cobo on cello, commemorating the concert that the cellist Gaspar Cassadó played there in 1960.

Other upcoming concerts include El ventall de la Patti, a recital of Romantic music in Sala Femenina (19 February); L'Ars nova a Itàlia in the Gothic Sculpture Hall (19 March); Concert de diumenge de rams featuring religious music on 9 April; L'art de musicar la paraula de música antiga (21 May); and a tribute concert to Contxita Badia which will end the cycle on 18 June.
