The OBC

The best of Broadway musicals at the Auditori

The OBC closes the year with a selection of the best songs by Andrew Lloyd Webber, composed for musicals like 'Jesus Christ Superstar', 'Evita' and 'Cats'.

The most popular composer of the 20th century is, without doubt, Andrew Lloyd Webber, a songsmith who, at the height of his career, in the 70s and 80s, wrote some of the best known melodies in the genre, including material for 'Jesus Christ Superstar', 'Evita', 'Cats', 'The Phantom of the Opera' and 'Love Never Dies', with songs like 'Memory', 'Gethsemane' and 'Don’t Cry for me Argentina'. It’s not exactly normal to see ‘serious’ music venues like the Auditori focusing on musicals, but this happy exception is scheduled to take place on 22 and 23 December within the framework of the OBCinema programme.

The OBC orchestra will be conducted by Alfonso Casado Trigo and the show will also feature the Coral Sant Jordi, the Cor Ciutat de Tarragona, L’Equitx, L’Espurna and Els Petits Martinencs, together with the solo vocalists Joanna Ampli, Celinde Schoenmaker, John Owen Jones and Geronimo Rauch.
