'Musical Evenings' at the Monastery of Pedralbes

The first concert, on July 14, is titled 'Women and Spirituality; music and poetry '

Women and Spirituality; Music and Poetry is the name of the first of the recitals and will be performed by the tenor Roger Padullés, pianist Josep Surinyac, violinist Marta Cardona, and cellist Laia Puig. The repertoire is based on poems by Sister Eulalia (Mercè Anzizu), the American Amy Beach, and France’s Lili and Nadia Boulanger, which have been set to music. These four creative talents all defied social conventions in order to determine the course of their lives. Eight days later, the concert Dreams, Meditations and Longings sees the Trio Granados playing pieces by Massenet, Fauré, Saint-Saëns and Enric Granados, among other composers from the second half of the 19th and early 20th centuries. Finally, Songs and Poems of Verdaguer and Anzizu featuring singer-songwriter Roger Mas, accompanied by two musicians, will transport the audience to a journey tohis musical universe through the verses of Verdaguer, with whom Sister Eulalia Anzizu once corresponded.

Tickets, costing €12, are now on sale.
