Musical evening at Pedralbes Monastery featuring the Trio Granados

The concert, on 30 September, will include pieces by Fauré, Chausson and Saint-Saëns

The 2016 Musical Evenings cycle at the Monastery of Santa Maria de Pedralbes featured three performances in July. However, the recital scheduled for 21 July, with the Trio Granados, was postponed and will now take place on Friday 30 September. The trio plan to play works by Jules Massenet, Gabriel Fauré, Ernest Chausson, Camille Saint-Saëns, Joan Lamote de Grignon and, of course, Enric Granados. The trio consists of Josep Colomé on violin, Pau Codina on the cello and Enrique Bagaría on piano. The recital is titled Dreams, Meditations and Longings and will take place in the cloister at 9pm.

This cycle is organised by Barcelona City Council and this year is focused on the figure of Sister Eulària Anzizu, the religious name of the writer and historian Mercè Anzizu Vila, who was in contact with figures from the Catalan renaissance and various poems by whom were set to music. One could say that her life has much in common with that of Enric Granados, who actually died the same year as her. Anzizu almost certainly heard pieces by Granados during the musical evenings organised by her uncle Eusebi Güell.
