Música als Parcs (Music in the Park) offers free concerts up until the 30th of August

Twenty seven green areas are taking part in the initiative this year

With the arrival of the good weather and longer evenings, many activities are now taking place in the open air in the city’s green areas. One of these initiatives is the Música als Parcs series, which will be offering nearly fifty free concerts in twenty seven green areas around the city up until the 30th of August.

The series kicked off on the 2nd of June with a performance by the Barcelona Gospel Messengers and, since then, the frequency of the concerts has increased. Some of the performances have been programmed for more than one day in different locations.

The main novelty of this edition is that, aside from classical music, jazz, and concerts by the Municipal Orchestra, the series includes concerts by three additional invited guests, the Chamber Orchestra of the Barcelona Music School (CEMB), under the direction of Xavier Jofre, the Okehampton College Big Band from the south of England, directed by Paul Smith, and the Leicestershire Wind Orchestra and Big Band, another English formation from the north of London, with Patrick White at the helm.

The closing ceremony this year will take the form of an iJam, with Llibert Fortuny in the Parc Central, Nou Barris. Participation if open to everyone and those who wish to partake should consult the terms which will shortly be published in the web bcn.cat/habitaturba.
