A concert from an earlier edition of the cycle

When melody and landscape merge

The Music in the Parks cycle opens on 2 June and will bring fifty concerts to the city's green spaces.

A performance by the female vocal trio The Sey Sisters on Saturday 2 June at Barceloneta Park will mark the beginning of an intense musical summer in the city's green spaces. This year's edition of the Music in the Parks cycle, which is organized by Barcelona City Council, will focus mainly on classical music and jazz played mostly by young musicians. There will be one or two concerts practically every day from now to 30 August, when the renowned Txell Sust & August Tharrats Trio will close the cycle in Clot Park, with a performance full of jazz, blues and swing that will also serve to celebrate the formation's 25th anniversary. Another concert that promises to be special will take place on Thursday, 21 June, World Music Day, when the old Model Prison will host a performance by Barcelona Coral Asia.

But the cycle is about more than just music: a number of the concerts scheduled for June and July will be preceded by guided visits to the parks that aim to help people to explore their history and riches. Trinity Park, Ciutadella Park, Turó del Putxet, Parc de la Crueta del Coll and the gardens of Ca l'Alena are just some of the places that you can explore in this way. On the cycle's opening day, we will also have the opportunity to get to know La Fàbrica del Sol, an environmental education facility located in Barceloneta Park.
