Music in the Parks

The music doesn't stop in Barcelona's parks in August

You can carry on enjoying the free Music in the Parks concerts until 31 August.

‘Music in the Parks’ is a three month cycle featuring a total of 50 concerts that aims to promote live music performed by young musicians by taking it to Barcelona's public parks and gardens. Although the programme features jazz and modern songs performances, the main focus of the cycle is on classical music and on giving young people studying at the conservatory the opportunity to gain experience of performing in front of an audience.

The cycle is now entering its last month, with the last programmed concert, by soul singer Monica Green, scheduled at Parc del Clot on 31 August. But before that date, you'll have the chance to see everything from chamber music to blues and folk in the parks. Among the highlights are a perfromance of pieces by Zoltan Kodaly and Chopin by pianist Stavroula Thoma at Ciutadella at 9pm on 10 August, works by Albéniz. Villalobos, Manuel de Falla, Piazzolla and The Beatles performed by Primo Tempo Duo, with guitar and clarinet, at Parc de l’Estació del Nord on 16 August, jazz with Flor de Canela at Jardins de Rubió i Lluch on 23 Augut and, on 24 August, Òscar Latorre Quartet at Parc de la Ciutadella. Classical music is also on the menu, with pieces by Britten, Vaughan-Williams and Gershwin performed by the Thames Youth Orchestra, also at the Ciutadella, on 28 August.

All of these concerts are free. Additional information can be found on Music in the Parks website.
