“Music Days” are back at Sant Pau

The Catalan modernist site is restarting its music cycle

After serving as a medical hospital for a century, the Hospital de la Santa Creu i Sant Pau, designed by the architect Lluís Domènech i Montaner was restored and now stands as a jewel of Catalan modernist architecture. Its “Music Days” cycle offers an introduction to chamber music through a series of recitals by small formations and young soloists. The next performance is scheduled for the 13th of March and will feature a selection of works by Bacj, Cassadó and Ligeti under the title “Suites and sonatas for cello”.

The Ensemble Dialoghi is also scheduled to perform two concerts, on the 20th of March and the 24th of April. On the first date, the woodwind trio will offer the public an intimate introduction to Haydn written for two trio formations. In the second, the ensemble will base their performance on two historic recordings by Reinecke with the aim of giving back to Romanticism a freedom that is often lacking in the original versions, adding pieces by Mendelsson and Brahms. This is a unique opportunity to enjoy music in a space that is part of Barcelona’s heritage. You can buy tickets for these concerts at this website.
