Music and image together at L’Auditori

For the 2014-2015 season, L’Auditori is offering a series of live concerts to accompany video selections and films such as “The Artist” and “The Lord of the Rings”

For the 2014-2015 season, L’Auditori has proposed a series of film and video screenings accompanied by live orchestrations, the first of which, Peer Gynt, an illustrated tale, interpreted by the Barcelona Symphony Orchestra – National Orchestra of Catalonia (OBC), will be held on the 21st, 22nd and 23rd of November. This Norwegian production combines video projections with live music as a means of relating the adventures and misadventures of the mischievous, fairy-tale-like character, Peer Gynt, a poetic, fantasy-play by Henrik Ibsen set to music by Edvard Grieg. On each of the three evenings the proceedings will begin with an aperitif by cellist Pau Codina, a member of the OBC, who will interpret a selection of pieces by Carl Nielsen and Saint-Saëns.

From the New Year onwards the series will continue with screenings of popular films accompanied by live music at the hands of the OBC, the first of which, on the 10th and 11th of January, will feature excerpts from The Lord of the Rings, for which composer Howard Shore received an Academy Award for Best Original Song in 2001.

On the 6th, 7th and 8th of February the star of the show will be none other than animated film company, Pixar. Under the banner Pixar in Concert, the OBC will accompany an audiovisual feast that will include highlights from such popular films as Toy Story, Finding Nemo, Ratatouille, Wall-E, Up and Brave, a selection of compositions that has garnered no less than ten Grammy and three Academy Awards.

The series will culminate on the 17th and 18th of July, 2015, with the screening of the silent film The Artist, the winner of five Academy Awards, including Best Film. On this occasion the soundtrack will be interpreted live by the creators themselves, soundtrack director Ernst van Tiel and composer Ludovic Bource, accompanied by the OBC.

Tickets for Peer Gynt, an illustrated tale begin at 10€, while those for The Lord of the Rings, Pixar in Concert and The Artist are priced at 42€, 29€ and 35€ respectively, though season tickets for the three concerts are available at 75€.
