Mudances move to the melodies of Bach

The dance company is scheduled to perform what is likely to be their last show at Mercat de les Flors.

Back Àbac is the name of the production that the Mudances dance company is offering from  20 to 28 January at Mercat de les Flors in a show in which the performers dance and move to the music of Johann Sebastian Bach. This piece is the third production that Mudances, a company founded in 1985 by Àngels Margarit, has performed on the stage of the Mercat de les Flors. According to the programme, the piece weaves “a choreography of sensual, visual mathematics, with bodies in extraordinary movement or that make any movement seem extraordinary”.

Margarit’s style is based on a search for her own language and poetry and reflects her fascination for space. Since its inception, Mudanzas has premiered a large number of shows, including Kolbebasar, Atzavara, Solo per habitació d’hotel, Corol·la, Tèrbola, L’edat de la paciència and Larandland, garnering both critical and public acclaim and winning a number of international awards.  In Back Àbac, Bach’s melodies are reinterpreted by artists as diverse as Llibert Fortuny, Chris Thile, David Cooper and Makoto Nakura.

As well as being a premiere, this production is likely to be the company’s swansong, since they have officially bid farewell to their followers on their website.
