More than 20,000 people to awaken the dragon in the illuminated facade of the Casa Batllo

The visual performance "El Despertar del Drac a la Casa Batlló" is an amazing show of mapping that takes place on September 23 in two exclusive passes for La Mercè

To mark the tenth anniversary of his appointment as World Heritage by UNESCO, Casa Batlló celebrates la Mercè 2015 with a very special event: A mapping and a performance in which there will be more than 20,000 people involved. The Casa Batlló wants to share with the entire city of Barcelona an audiovisual projection on the facade, revealing all the symbols and interpretations that inspired Antoni Gaudí in the creation of this masterpiece.

The mapping consists in applying a 3D technique that gives a more detailed relief and lighting to the surface of an object. The artistic results are surprising. On the facade of the Casa Batlló there are several architectural details that express many allegories. All of them will be represented in the mapping to be held on 23 September.

The audiovisual presentation of September 23 will last 30 minutes and will be made in two passes,  at 21:00 hours and 22:30 hours, coinciding with the celebrations of La Mercè.

Also, before each mapping pass, all attendees will be able to wake the dragon on the facade of the fabulous building of Gaudí, just with one gesture that will synchronize their smartphones. The aim is to achieve a massive telematic and dramatic action. Furthermore,  Casa Batlló, the building that represents the legend of Sant Jordi, organized a photography contest whose prize is an outstanding dinner for two people in the belly of the dragon.
