Montjuïc Castle presents 'Evenings in the Castle'

Every Friday throughout the month of June the castle bailey will host free performances of dance, music, circus and theatre created by students from the city's school

Nits al Castell, or Evenings in the Castle, is a series of free dance, music, circus and theatre performances held every Friday throughout the month of June in the bailey of Montjuïc Castle.

Every Friday from 9 pm to 1 am the initiative will offer a different programme featuring students from renowned schools from the city of Barcelona. The series began on Friday the 5th with a performance entitled Kamiyot, choreographed by Israeli choreographer Ohad Naharin and produced by the dance company Companyia IT Dansa, an educational initiative of the Institut del Teatre.

On Friday the 12th of June the castle bailey will host a blues concert featuring the Barcelona band A Contra Blues. Founded in 2005 the band has performed on a variety of national and international stages. The 19th will see the turn of 'Circus Night' featuring the Rogelio Rivel School from Nou Barris and in which second year students will present their acro-dance, contortion, trampoline, juggling, clown and corde lisse numbers, among others.
The series will close on Friday the 26th of June with a performance by Comedia dell'Arte, an initiative of students of the Institut del Teatre. The performance will consist of three half-hour sessions of improvisation, vitality and humour featuring characters such as Colombina, Harlequin and Pantalone.

Following each performance a shuttle bus service will ferry those requiring transport to the Plaça d'Espanya.
