The poster by Jaime Calderón

The MNAC art collection in vignette form

Students at the Joso school reinterpret 20 of the museum’s pieces in comic book form.

Coinciding with the 35th Barcelona International Comic Fair, which is scheduled to take place from 30 March to 2 April, the Museu Nacional d'Art de Catalunya (MNAC) is presenting an installation titled From vignette to vignette. A modern art itinerary in vignettes in which students from the Joso school centre for comics and visual arts reinterpret twenty of the museums pieces in vignette form, focusing on fragment or creating a new version of the work while incorporating seven elements in a ‘spot the differences’ style.

Visitors to MNAC from 30 March to 30 April will find the students’ creations next to the works that have inspired them. And the museums relationship with the comic fair doesn’t end there, since MNAC has also announced that people attending the fair will have free access to the museum during May upon presentation of their ticket to the fair. The Plau Nacional, which house the MNAC collection also appear in the background of the fair’s poster this year, which was created by Jaime Calderón.

The Joso school is an educational centre that specialises in comics and was founded by the graphic humourist Joso in 1982. It has two centres, in Barcelona and Sabadell, and is considered to be the leading centre of its type in Spain.

Additional information is available from the MNAC website.
