Miserachs Barcelona

The Museu d’Art Contemporani de Barcelona is inaugurating the exhibit Miserachs Barcelona, focusing on the photobook Barcelona. Black and White by the Barcelona-native photographer.

Miserachs Barcelona is the new exhibit being presented today at the Museu d’Art Contemporani de Barcelona (MACBA) starring the Barcelona-native photographer. Starting tomorrow and until 27th March next year, you may visit this exhibit curated by Horacio Fernández which invites spectators to reflect upon photobooks or art books as a unique combination between a book and graphic design and on their recent role as works of art in contemporary art museums.

The exhibit now being presented by the MACBA focuses on Xavier Miserachs' photobook entitled Barcelona. Black and White (1964), an extensive piece of work comprised of 400 photographs showing the city of Barcelona through its inhabitants' eyes.

Miserachs Barcelona offers spectators a different way to view photographs in museums with enlargements and projections which bring the public into the pages of Miserachs' photobook. This exhibit is also the culmination of the arrangement, cataloguing and conservation work being done on the photographer's collection which was deposited with the MACBA in 2011.

Miserachs Barcelona also includes the publication of a photobook with the same title as the exhibit in addition to a specific catalogue and a conference on the artist.
