The Miquel Llobet International Guitar Competition

The Miquel Llobet International Guitar Competition features the finest classical guitarists

The competition will take place from 3 to 6 November at the Museu de la Música and L'Auditori

The Barcelona International Guitar Competition dates from 1995 and was, at first, named in memory of Maria Luisa Anido, though later, following her wishes, it was named after her teacher, the Catalan guitarist and composer Miquel Llobet. In 2005 it became an international competition and, since then, every year for a few days Barcelona becomes the world capital of the classical guitar.

The competition is now set to celebrate its 11th edition from 3 to 6 November at two venues: the Museu de la Música and L'Auditori – two places that are synonymous with good music and  frequent haunts of music students. On 3 November, the Music Museum will host the official presentation of the competition, together with the draw that establishes the order of appearance of the competing artists. Admission is free but capacity is limited. The semi-final will be held at the same venue on 4 November and the final is set to take place in Hall 2 of L’Auditori on 6 November, together with a performance by the Barcelona Guitar Orchestra.
