The Mil·lenni Festival celebrates its 16th edition

On the 2nd of November Macy Gray will inaugurate a series of concerts which, up until next spring, will attract a number of performers to various venues around the city

The Banc Sabadell Festival del Mil·lenni celebrates its 16th edition with an eclectic programme of concerts in various venues throughout the city. From November this year to the spring of next year a series of musicians and bands from a variety of genres will perform in venues such as the BARTS, the Liceu, the Palau de la Música and L’Auditori.

The festival, which began in the 1999-2000 season with a programme featuring singer-songwriters and vocalists such as Raimon, Amancio Prada and Ainhoa Arteta, has diversified over the years and has become a not-to-be-missed showcase for the best in local and international music.

In its 16-year history, the Mil·lenni Festival has played host to artists the likes of Joan Baez, Nacho Vegas, José González, Ocean Colour Scene, Georges Moustaki, Tomatito, Michael Nyman and Yo La Tengo, among a litany of others.

The first performance this year will be that of Macy Gray who, on Sunday the 2nd of November at 9 pm, will bring her repertoire of elegant, sensual Soul and R & B to the BARTS. The Ohio-born singer has released eight studio albums, garnering success from the very first of these thanks to a Grammy Award for “I Try”, her best-known song. On this occasion she will be presenting her latest recording The Way.

The 16th edition of the Mil·lenni Festival has programmed appearances by the likes of James Taylor, Cat Power, Marianne Faithful, Josep Carreras, John Mayall and Tweedy, among others.

The Banc Sabadell Festival del Mil·lenni will take place from the 2nd of November to the spring of 2015 and ticket prices range from 10 to 125 euros, depending on the concert. For more information, please consult the festival website.
