Milan Kundera is the focus of a session at the Filmoteca

The session features an interview and a film by the author of The Unbearable Lightness of Being.

One of the most influential writers of his era and the author of works that have gone on to become universal literature, such as The Unbearable Lightness of Being, Milan Kundera is, above all, a literary figure. Nonetheless, he has also had an impact on the world of cinema. And this less well known facet of his career is the focus of a new session of the Filmoteca’s Cinema ben escrit cycle

Kundera is a writers who mixes love and death, two of his great themes, with which he creates desolate images that are very adaptable to the language of film, a medium he is very familiar with, having taught classes on the History of Film at the Academy of Music and Art and at the Institute of Film Studies in Prague.

Kundera has also written a number of film scripts, one of which, titled The Joke, can be seen at the Filmoteca, along with an interview with its author. It’s an ideal session for anyone who wishes to discover or learn more about this literary genius.
