Mike Sánchez & The Barcelona Big Blues Band, in the Palau de la Música

The R&B singer and pianist will perform alongside Dani Nel•lo on tenor sax on Tuesday the 26th of August as part of the San Miguel Mas i Mas Festival

The Barcelona Big Blues Band, led by bassist Ivan Kovacevic and joined by composer and sax player Dani Nel·lo will offer a one-off performance in the Palau de la Música accompanied by one of the world’s most popular and charismatic R&B artists, Mike Sánchez.
Born Jesús Miguel Sánchez to Spanish parents in 1967 in London’s East End, Mike Sánchez, as he was later to be known, took an early interest in American music from the 1950s. At eight years old he was already an accomplished pianist and at sixteen he founded The Bigtime Playboys alongside bassist Andy Silvester and sax player Ricky Cool.

Admired by rock musicians of the moment such as Jeff Beck, Mick Fleetwood and Eric Clapton, The Bigtime Playboys firmly established themselves as players in the British music scene of the 80s and 90s. Mike Sánchez left the band in 1999 and for a number of years played with The Rhythm Kings, led by ex-Rolling Stone Bill Wyman.

Mike’s performances are characterised by frenetic piano rhythms and a potent command of the language of R&B, rock and boogie-woogie that has led to his becoming one of the most respected musicians on the current international circuit.

The concert will take place at 9 pm on Tuesday the 26th of August in the Palau de la Música as part of the San Miguel Mas i Mas Festival and tickets are priced at 23€. For more information please consult the festival website.
