MID Design Ideas Market 2014

Registration is now open for “Creative idea seeks business outlet”

MID is an annual initiative of the Barcelona Design Centre BCD that both fosters creative talent and seeks to establish the city as a focal point for creative European businesses.

With this in mind, MID seeks to introduce projects by members of the BCD creative collective that are designed to have both a social and economic impact on Barcelona as well as international projection. The programme encourages and promotes entrepreneurial initiative as an asset to cultural and creative sector industries and demonstrates this creativity to companies and investors in recognition of its potential for creating business opportunities.

The Design Ideas Market has the support of the Barcelona City Council, the Department of Culture of the Generalitat de Catalunya and the National Innovation Company, ENISA (Empresa Nacional de Innovación S.A.).

The programme consists of a variety of services, such as the aforementioned “creative idea seeking business outlet” (applications may be presented up until the 8th of September), companies seeking investors, co-working possibilities, crowdfunding, the MIDI&Talent platform, design protection and an online exhibition platform.

With regard to “creative idea seeks business outlet”, projects that correspond to any one of the following categories may be presented: childhood, sports, motorcycling or home environment. Projects that succeed in reaching the final phase will be presented at the Innovation Forum on the 30th of October. The objective of this forum is to bring designers into contact touch with businesses from the aforementioned sectors (childhood, sports, home environment and motorcycling) in an attempt to present their projects to the marketplace and create business opportunities. The finalists will also be presented in the Barcelona Design Museum in an exhibition that will commence on the 4th of November.
