Microteatre: plays in less than 15m2

From 29 December to 8 January, this theatre in Carrer de Bailèn will be featuring a series of plays about 2016

Are you a fan of small format theatrical productions? Have you always dreamed of having actors perform less than a metre away from you and of transforming your living room into a mini theatre? Your dreams have taken physical form in the shape of Microteatre Barcelona. This is a new theatrical concept that delivers 15-minute plays in spaces measuring less than 15 square metres.

From 29 December to 8 January, this theatre in Carrer de Bailèn will be offering eight mini plays focussing on the year 2016: Serendipia by Xavier Pàmies; La mansió by Joaquim Bundó; Te quiero by Laura Yuste; La gran final by Xavier Miralles; Enamorarse encima by Amanda Gris; La espera by Joaquim Bundó; Infelices para siempre by Joan Marc Sastre, and Al final tothom mor by Xavi Morató. It’s a series of comedies and dramas that is sure to leave spectators surprised.

Microteatre was created seven years ago in an ex-brothel in Madrid, where almost 50 artists presented a theatre project called Por dinero for a period of two weeks. The 13 rooms in the brothel were occupied by 13 companies who created plays lasting less than 10 minutes on the subject of prostitution. From that seed sprang this new theatrical concept in which the spectators can choose how long they want to spend at the theatre, the number of plays they want to see and, of course, the amount of money they want to spend.
