The best short films at Mecal Air
This year’s edition of Barcelona’s summer cinema festival will be held at the Design Museum.
For 10 years, Mecal, the Barcelona short film festival, has been offering outdoor film screenings in the summer in the shape of Mecal Air. But his year they’ve decided to change both the location and the programme format. From now on, the short films screened will no longer be grouped by theme but by genre, making sessions more coherent. This year’s edition therefore features sessions on regeneration (06/07), erotic cinema (13/07), animation (20/07), creative publicity (27/07), science fiction (03/08), documentaries (10/08), independent cinema (17/08), horror (24/08) and comedy (31/08). To pay tribute to the festival’s new location, the first film to be screened at every session will be design-releated.
The sessions will be held every Friday in July and August at Jardins Elisava, just behind the Barcelona Design Museum. Bar service will be available.
