This month sees a host of concerts, including performances by Pat Metheny, Els Amics de les Arts, Loquillo and Russian Red
May is set to be an intensive month for Guitar BCN. The festival is a long one and the last concert on its programme will feature Amaral in July, but meanwhile there are plenty of interesting appearances scheduled for venues like Barts, Bikini and Luz de Gas. And May offers a particularly rich array of options with a total of 18 confirmed artists including Els Amics de les Arts, Pat Metheny, Loquillo and Russian Red.
Els Amics de les Arts have a new record out and will be presenting it on three successive evenings at Sala Barts from 4 to 6 May. Tickets are expected to sell out early for this popular band. Meanwhile, in the smaller hall at Barts, called Barts Club, Suso Sáiz, a pioneer in progressive rock and electronic production in Spain, will be playing on 5 May. Other highlights of the month include African duo Amadou & Mariam (12 May at Barts), Loquillo at Sant Jordi Club (13 May), the reappearance of Coque Malla (19 May at Barts), Russian Red at Barts on 25 May, and an interesting evening with jazz guitar legend Pat Metheny on 27 May (at Sala Barts, of course).
Additional information is available at the Guitar BCN website, where you can also buy tickets.
