The Maritime Museum kicks off the 6th edition of Musical Summer Evenings

The series will consist of five concerts between the 9th of June and the 22nd of July

The new season of summer concerts (Tardes Musicals d'Estiu) in the Museu Marítim kicks off on the 9th of June with three big bands from the Hamelin-International Laie School of Alella: Soundtrack, Los Rompe Notas and Dando la Nota. Each band will first perform on their own, offering a repertoire that includes swing, pop and film soundtracks, and will finish off with a joint session directed by Alberto Moreno.

The series will then take a break until July, when the remaining four musical evenings will be held. The 13th of July will see the turn of the chamber chorus and jazz band from the Sandbach High School and Sixth Form College from Cheshire, England, in which the young members of the two bands will offer a repertoire of traditional Scottish and Irish songs. On the following day the Pimlico School Band accompanied by a selection of solo singers will offer a repertoire of songs by such illustrious names as Michael Jackson and The Beatles as well as a selection of jazz pieces.

The 18th of July will feature a performance by a band that goes by the eloquent name of The League of Astonishing Strings and who, naturally enough, will offer a repertoire in which strings play the starring role. The band includes musicians from the USA and Canada who have been hand-picked for this summer's European tour. The final concert in this, the sixth edition of the series, will take place on the 22nd of July and feature the musical talents of the Lady Manners School from Birmingham, England, who will offer a repertoire of well-known classical and jazz pieces and film soundtracks.

All concerts will begin at 6 pm in the gardens of the museum.
