'The Lover' at Teatre Akadèmia

A married couple with a stable, long-standing relationship based on honesty and love are weighed down by a daily life full of routines

Teatre Akadèmia is a project that was started in 2007 with support and funding from the Elsa Peretti Foundation and its president, Elsa Peretti. It is a dynamic hub of pilot programs in the field of social theatre and orality, dedicated to raising awareness and bringing the imagination of children, adolescents and adults closer to the world of the performing arts. It’s a neighbourhood theatre, a theatre for the city and a theatre for the world, open to ideas in different languages and from different cultures, where children and adults can find poetry and imagination. And debuting this week at the theatre is The Lover by Harold Pinter, directed by Guido Torlonia.

The play features a married couple with a stable, long-standing relationship based on honesty and love, who are weighed down by a daily life full of routines. They find their escape from this monotony in a world of sexual fantasy in which unfaithfulness becomes a formula for sustaining love and passion.
