Live Research
On 23, 24 and April 25 La Pedrera discloses the research which is being performed in Barcelona in the 11th edition of the Live Research fair.
The «Live research» Fair is an exhibition of contemporary research organized annually by the Barcelona Science Park (Parc Científic de Barcelona) with the cooperation of the Catalan Biology Society and the support of the Ministry of Science and Innovation, the Department of Innovation and Universities and the Fundació Catalunya - La Pedrera bank.
This year there will be six groups of researchers who moved his lab to this iconic space, so that visitors can participate in current experiments with the same tools and materials with which they conduct their research. To encourage interaction with the public, in each stand attendees will have to solve an enigma by following scientific methodology.
Visitors will be able to find out what happens in the brain when we listen to music, create a new drug using peptides and proteins; experience how light travels through our tissues, record the activity of our body and interpreting biomedical signals, modify the activity of several genes to prevent or cure cancer, or find out how can two languages coexist in one brain.
The aim of the fair is to improve scientific understanding and awareness in our society by presenting research that is currently being performed in Barcelona to the public, and for real researchers to explain to the general public the main characteristics of the scientific method.
