Literal: the radical book fair

Fabra i Coats to host a three-day get-together for writers, thinkers and politicians focused on books dealing with radical ideas

If, as well as reading, you like to hear people speaking about books, authors speaking about their works and exchanging ideas about political activism, then Literal is the ideal event for you. Last year, the fair scored big by inviting a Nobel prize-winner like Svetlana Alexievich and this year the focus is on political ideas, international relations, social history and criticism and will bring together publishers, writers and readers.

Literal will take place from 12 to 15 May in L’Harmonia, the cultural association that operates inside the antiga fàbrica Fabra i Coats arts complex in Sant Andreu, and will consist of a fair in which the general public can browse through books, a conference room and a programme of talks, dialogues and interviews featuring authors including Palestine’s Leila Khaled and the academic Guy Standing, who specialises in issues relating to underdevelopment and will be interviewed by the Catalan MP Anna Gabriel. The programme also features conversations on feminism and political music, concerts and conferences on different forms of activism.

All the activities are free of charge. Additional information is available from the Literal website.
