Each concert features works by three contemporary composers

Off Liceu: a cycle that aims to shake up the world of musical creation

Ramon Humet, Clara Peya, Albert Guinovart and Marc Parrot are among the musicians taking part

Thursday 16 February sees the first of the three events that, at least until now, make up the programme of Off Liceu – musical dialogues, a new cycle that will take place in the Foyer of the Gran Teatre del Liceu and which, according to its creators, "was born with the mission of shaking up the world of musical creation in its entire spectrum, especially with regard to Catalan and Spanish music". Each event will see the presence of three composers from a variety of musical backgrounds. Admission, costing €10, includes a drink. One of the organisers’ aims is to break down the barriers between the stage and the audience, performers and public, in order to foster, “a dialogue that enriches both sides and that does away with preconceived ideas that are associated with contemporary music”.

During the opening concert, attendees will hear Ramon Humet’s Homenatge a Martha Graham featuring mezzo-soprano Marisa Martins and pianist Rodrigo de Vera, followed by Meta-morphe by Joan Bagés and, finally Trio Clara Peya interpreting Oceanes. On Friday 27 March the three performances scheduled are works by Irina Prieto Botella (Migration and Terre des homes), Albert Guinovart (Tanit. Cinc cançons de desig) and Lucas Peire (Oda a un llibertí). Finally, on 21 April, the featured composers are Marc Parrot (El Jardí, El millor amic de l'home, Ressona el gong and Arkandú), Jordi Domènech (Si vera somnia) and Joan Magrané (Després d'un malson i Double).
