This year’s International Book Fair includes Liberatura, a series of parallel activities open to the non-professional public, from the 30th of September to the 3rd of October

From Tuesday the 30th of September to Friday the 3rd of October, the Fira de Barcelona trade fair venue will host the 32nd edition of Liber, the International Book Fair. Liber is a professional trade fair with a focus on innovation in digital content and technological services for publishers and, for the first time, will also include an exhibition of editorial and literary content designed for merchandising and audio-visual use. In addition, sector professionals will have an opportunity to discuss the principals factors affecting the sector and a space will be provided for the negotiation of translation rights.

This year, however, Liber wants to go even further and establish greater rapport with the general public. With this is mind, on the 1st, 2nd and 3rd of October, beginning at 6 pm, Liber presents Liberatura, a literary festival that will take place not only in the Fira itself, but also in numerous libraries and bookshops throughout the city.

In addition this year, the inauguration will include a special tribute to Ana María Matute. On Tuesday the 30th of September, from 12 o’clock midday to approximately 4 pm there will be a public reading of her yet-to-be-published novel Demonios familiares, the posthumous novel she was working on when she died.
