The documentary dealing with the independence process in Catalonia became Europe’s most successful crowdfunding campaign and opens in cinemas on the 5th of September
“What would happen if Catalonia became an independent country?” “What economic viability would it have as a new state?” “What role would education play?” These are just some of the questions posed by L’endemà, a documentary film in favour of Catalan independence.
The film is directed by Isona Passola, director of one of Catalan cinema’s most successful films, Pa Negre (Black Bread). Bearing in mind the desire of the great majority of Catalans to be able to freely decide whether or not they want to become a separate state, L’endemà, originated with the idea of providing answers to the doubts that those who have not made up their minds may still have about the possible viability of Catalonia as an independent state. The film, then, offers an open minded, critical and unconventional analysis of the situation in a format that combines innovation, artistic rigour and even touches of humour, offering solid arguments and objective information presented first-hand by numerous popular personalities and local and international experts.
The project has prospered thanks to the commitment and support of more than 8100 internet patrons, making it Europe’s most successful crowdfunding campaign with more than 300,000 euros raised. L’endemà opens in cinemas throughout Barcelona and Catalonia on the 5th of September.
