‘Tierra sola’

The Women’s Film Showcase begins with a cycle on Latin-American documentary makers

The three films selected attempt to convey the reality of a number of countries in Latin America.

The 27th edition of the Women’s Film Showcase will begin its programme with the 5th edition of the cycle 'Latin-American Documentary Makers’. The aim of this collection of films directed by women from Latin America is to reflect on the implication of documentary cinema in realities, spaces and societies that may seem to be very distant from us at first glance. In these films, we will see how the documentary approach to cinema functions as a performative act of identity, as a testimony to cultural manifestations at risk of extinction and as an element of political resistance. The chosen films, which have never before appeared on Catalan screens, are 'Las cinéphilas' by María Álvarez, 'El último país' by Gretel Marín and 'Tierra sola' by Tiziana Panizza.

The cycle will run from 15 February to 1 March and all screenings will take place at 8 pm at Cinemes Girona. The screening of 'Las cinéphilas' will take place on 15 February, followed by 'El último país' on the 22nd, while 'Tierra sola' can be seen on 1 March.

Tickets for all of the screenings cost €4.50. Additional information is available at the following link.
