Kraftwerk bring their pioneering brand of electronic music to the Liceu

The well-known German band will perform in Barcelona on the 22nd of April as part of the Suite Festival

Ralf Hütter and Florian Schneider founded Kraftwerk in 1970 and since then the pioneering German electronic music outfit have been the inspiration for a wide range of musical genres that includes electro, hip hop, techno and synth pop. With a career trajectory of more than four decades at their backs the band will perform in the Gran Teatre del Liceu on the 22nd of April as part of the Suite Festival, which has already seen performances by a selection of artists and bands as diverse as Woody Allen, Van Morrison, Els Amics de les Arts and Luz Casal.

Kraftwerk have always seen their live shows as audio-visual performances in which image and sound combine to produce an overall effect. The influence of the band has extended beyond the purely musical and their work has come to form part of the world of contemporary visual art to the extent that, in recent years, retrospectives have been held in modern art galleries in cities the likes of New York, London, Tokyo, Sydney, Los Angeles and their native Düsseldorf.

Since their earliest days the band have experimented with synthetic sounds and voices and mechanical rhythms based on the latest technologies to produce a revolutionary electronic sound that uses a world dominated by machines as an underlying metaphor.
