Werner Herzog, the star of this year's Kosmópolis

Kosmópolis: another edition of the year’s great literary feast

Once again, CCCB will host this great get-together for the most important writers and thinkers of our time

Kosmópolis is the jewel in the crown of Barcelona’s literary festivals. And even though the festival really takes place continuously, with events programmed now and then throughout the year, the main action in the festival is crammed into one week in March every two years, when CCCB plays host to workshops, conferences, meetings with writers, talks and live interviews. It’s a unique opportunity to meet up with our literary heroes.

This edition of Kosmópolis, which will run from 22 to 26 March, is jam-packed with activities which can be consulted in the PDF file you will find at this link. This year’s special guests include Jean Echenoz and Jean-Yves Jouannais, who will be conversing with Jordi Corominas on Thursday 23 March, John Banville and Pierre Lemaitre with moderator Anna Guitart on Friday 24 and, on Saturday 25, director Werner Herzog will be talking to Paul Holdengräber on the theme of ‘Ecstasy and terror in the mind of God’.

The festival programme also includes a cycle of conversations on graphic novels, reflections on climate change and literature and a special section devoted to female literature complete with a festival ending poem read by PJ Harvey, as well as a tribute to Swiss writer Robert Walser. Additional information is available from the Kosmópolis website.
