The International Music Competition Maria Canals consolidates its international recognition with its 59th edition

 

This year’s edition begins with an inaugural concert on the 8th of March. From the 10th onwards the eliminatory rounds will be held in the Petit Palau until the semi-finals on the 17th. The final will be held on the 20th in the main hall of the Palau de la Música with orchestral accompaniment and the winner’s recitals will take place two days later, on Friday the 22nd.

 

From its beginnings, the Maria Canals competition has enjoyed significant support from the citizens of Barcelona and Catalonia, proof of this being the fact that more than a hundred of the city’s families entrust their personal pianos so that contestants from the world over may practise. South Korean pianist Soo Jung Ann was the winner of last year’s edition.

 

For those that they wish, the Festival Maria Canals offers to everybody pianos in the following placements to practise:

- From the 7th to 18th of March, piano to the interbarterer of Diagonal
- From the 7th to 18th of March, between 10 hr and 20 hr, in the following cultural placements:

- 9 March: 10 pianos on the Passeig de Gràcia between 10 hr and 20 hr.
