International Museum Day

Attention! Open day at most museums

On 18 May, coinciding with International Museum Day, you can see many exhibitions and collections in Barcelona for free, and take part in all kinds of activities.

18 May is International Museum Day, when many of Barcelona’s museums and heritage sites, especially public ones, will open their doors to the public for free, including Pedralbes Monastery, Montjuïc Castle, Museu Marés and the Ethnological and Cultures of the World Museum, as well as iconic establishments like MNAC and MACBA.

In addition, many museums will be hosting special activities on both 18 and 19 May. For example, there will be three dramatic readings of texts by Joan Brossa on 19 May at Museu Frederic Marés, and a small workshop on the idea of magic in ancient Egypt at the Archeology Museum of Catalonia. The most important special activity, however, will be the Night of the Museums, when at dusk until the early hours of the morning of 19 May, many museums will open until late and round off the event with new activities.
