International Catalan Music Festival

Every Thursday, in the MEAM

The International Catalan Music Festival celebrates another edition. From the 18th of July to the 5th of September the festival will be treating the public to a selection of representative pieces by Catalan composers.

The concerts will be held in the Museu Europeu d’Art Modern (MEAM) located in the Palau Gomis, an 18th century building that will provide the perfect setting for delighting in 300 years of Catalan music. The festival programme covers the period from the 18th century to the present day and includes works by renowned composers and interpretations by prestigious international artists.

This edition is an opportunity to acquaint ourselves with some lesser known Catalan composers, such as Pau Marsal (1761 – 1839) or Padre Manuel Espona (1714 – 1779) as well as works by the distinguished Catalan composer Pau Casals and a selection of works by grand masters of the Spanish guitar in Catalonia, LLlobet, Sor, Tárrega, Bortons and Tarragó. There will also be the opportunity to enjoy the subtleties of the Catalan Lied (Lieder) in compositions by artists such as Manén, Toldrà, Pedrell, Mompou or Nin Castellanos.
