“The ICTs, Open Data and Citizen Science” project

Would you like to know about other projects that have received the subvention in information technology and communication (ICT ) of the Institute of Culture of Barcelona?

We present "ICTs, Open Data and Citizen Science". This project was selected by the Institut de Cultura of Barcelona, as one of the winners of ICT subventions and has been managed by Fundació Bosh i Gimpera.

From the Direcció de Creativitat i Innovació of Barcelona, we approach a new project that has the cooperation of the University of Barcelona and OpenSystems multidisciplinary group, that understands citizen participation and art as the main way of doing science. Its methodology is based on community processes that seek to make the city and urban environments a scientific, open, permanent laboratory, but in constant evolution. They bet by new technologies, multidisciplinary and horizontal research, innovation and citizen involvement.

The project aims to use information technologies and communication to enable non-expert access to open data associated with citizen science projects. All this is embodied to be working with open data, while allowing multiply the spread and impact of the work.

It wants to give value to the data and results obtained by citizens through their intellectual effort, knowledge, tools and resources; always maintaining a direct engagement with the general public.

Ultimately it seeks to share knowledge and generate knowledge collectively.
