The Hop Festival: a meeting place for urban dance

The 5th edition of the festival will take place at Mercat de les Flors from 9 to 17 December.

"A new look at urban dance" is the calling card of the Hop Festival, an annual event that has been going for five years now and that offers an excellent opportunity to discover the best and the brightest in conemporary creation. Mercat de les Flors will be hosting the fifth edition of this event from 9 to 17 December and alonsgside the dance displays, there will be workshops, training courses, specialized creation laboratories, roundtable discussions and conferences.

Autarcie, de la Cie. par Terre and Anna Nguyen will be opening the event, while on the 10th of December there will be a family hiphop workshop and a workshop on graffiti, as well as a display of urban dance by young people. December 15 sees an interdisciplinary jam aimed to encourage performers to share their creative knowledge and tools.

The bulk of the programme will take place over the last two days, on 16 and 17 December, featuring performances like DeHumans by Marta Reguera Varela, Boredom 2.0 by Sample Culture, Wild Cat by the Black Sheep company and Aye-Nah by Aina Lanas. On the last day of the festival it will be time for conferences and round tables, as well as for the representation of Inherent by Wayward Thread, Untitled by Mazel Freten, Fighting Spirit by Paradox-sal and Kintsugi: Aesthetics of Imperfection by Iron Skulls.
