Barcelona Design Museum and its hidden treasures

Here, we'll offer you a guide to the exhibitions currently up and running, including one on David Bowie and another on decorative arts.

As its name suggests, the Barcelona Design Museum is devoted completely to innovation in all of its aspects. The museum aims to provide a transversal insight into the influence of design on aesthetics throughout history and therefore hosts a diverse range of exhibitions and a permanent exhibition that aims to present the history of Barcelona from the point of view of design. If you find these themes to be of interest, now is a great time to visit the museum.

The permanent exhibition is divided into five sections. There's one on the dressing the body, which covers body shapes and fashion from 1550 to 2015, one on industrial design with an accent on everyday objects such as tables and chairs, another on decorative arts from the 3rd century on, one which focuses on graphic design in Barcelona from 1940 to 1980, and there is also the opportunity to visit the flat/museum at Casa Bloc, an example of rationalist architecture in Barcelona. Finally, the temporary exhibition David Bowie is provides an insight into Bowie's genius in fields ranging from fashion and film to graphic design.

You'll find additional information on the Design Museum website.
