Händel’s 'Messiah' at Palau de la Música

Daniel Hope to direct the Zurich Chamber Orchestra in this performance of a Christmas classic.

For many, the Christmas season hasn’t really started until they hear the strains of Händel’s ‘Messiah’, and what better way to hear that typically festive piece than in a live version by a top orchestra? That’s what will happen very soon at Barcelona’s Palau de la Música, where Daniel Hope, one of the last disciples of Yehudi Menuhin, will conduct the Palau’s Chamber Choir and the Zurich Chamber Orchestra in a recital of an oratorio that, in just over two hours, recounts the story of Jesus Christ, from his birth to his death and resurrection.

The concert will take place on 13 December at 8pm at the Palau de la Música Catalana. The soloists for this performance are soprano Martina Janková, mezzosoprano Anna Harvey, tenor Mauro Peter and bass Konstantin Wolff.

The tickets cost from €21 to €100 and can now be purchased on the Palau de la Música website.
