Guided tours of the exhibition Fashion and Modernism at Casa Rocamora

The tours are scheduled by the Cases Singulars Project to take place on various days during October

The aim of the Cases Singulars Project is to make the cultural heritage that is in private hand more accessible to the general public through the organisation of guided tours and other activities held in private houses, such as talks and concerts. One of their initiatives for October is the exhibition Fashion and modernisme. The influence of 1900, at Casa Rocamora (C/ de Ballester, 12). The building is well worth a visit for itself and is the headquarters of the Fundació Cultural Privada Rocamora. Les visites tindran lloc el dissabte 15 a les 11 h, el dimarts 18 a les 11 h i a les 18 h, i el dissabte 22 a les 11 h.  The visits will take place on Saturday the 15th at 11am, on Tuesday 18th at 11am and 6pm, and on Saturday 22nd at 11am.

Despite its title, the exhibition does not include any explicit Catalan modernist clothing designs, but rather aims "to reflect the influence of the aesthetic currents of the late 19th century and early 20th century on contemporary international fashion." The exhibition includes about 70 pieces of clothing all designed for women, from the Antoni de Montpalau textile collection. Visitors will see everything from wedding dresses and party outfits to everyday clothes. And they are distributed throughout the house, thereby establishing a dialogue with its collections of furniture, paintings, sculpture and decorative arts.  The list of fashion designers who are represented is very extensive, and to cite only a few examples, one will find pieces by Cristóbal Balenciaga, Yves Saint Laurent, Hubert de Givenchy, Christian Lacroix, Thierry Mugler, Antoni Miró and Manuel Pertegaz.

Since places on the tours are limited, those interested are recommended to register in advance.
