Guided tours of the Disseny Hub Barcelona are now available

From September on, the DHUB building and the Casa Bloc will open their doors to visitors

The Disseny Hub Barcelona, the avant-garde building located on the Plaça de les Glòries, will be the future headquarters of the Museu del Disseny and is due to open its doors sometime in the spring of 2014. However, it will be open to visitors from the 29th of September this year.

The building, which is the work of MBM Arquitectes, the architecture firm consisting of Josep Martorell, Oriol Bohigas, David Mackay, Oriol Capdevila y Francesc Gual, is interesting enough in its own right. Aside from its aesthetic value, the building boasts a high level of both environmental quality and sustainability thanks to a notable energy sufficiency system which has earned the building the highest environmental classification, type A.

Prior to this, from the 7th of September onwards, the Casa Bloc Apartment Museum on Calle Almirant Proixida will open its doors to guided tours. The building, designed by GATCPAC, initials for the Group of Spanish Artists and Technicians for the Accomplishment of Contemporary Architecture, was constructed during the Second Republic and has recovered one of its residencies in an attempt to regain its original appearance.
