Find out about the importance of this hill in the defence of Barcelona during the Spanish Civil War.
Turó de la Rovira can be seen from many places in Barcelona and offers a 360 degree view over the whole city. That’s precisely why it became a strategic point for the defence of the city in 1937. At 262 metres above sea level, it provides an unobstructed view of the airspace over the city and was chosen as the base for its main antiaircraft batteries, which can still be visited to this day. The History Museum of Barcelona offers a guided tour of the hill called 'The Defence of the Modern City' which helps visitors to understand the role it played towards the end of the Spanish Civil War.
The guided tour is scheduled for 10am on 29 September and will last for approximately one hour.
Tickets for the tour cost €5 and you can book by sending an email to firstname.lastname@example.org or by calling 932562122.
