Other highlights include concerts by Fermín Muguruza with the Micaela Chalmeta Big Band and Santiago Auserón with the Banda Municipal de Barcelona.

The Festival Grec 2017 is now in full swing and features a wide variety of artistic disciplines. We would like to recommend some of the names and fuctions that will be taking to the festival stages over the coming days. We'll begin with the ex-leader of the group Radio Futura, Santiago Auserón, who will taking his songs to the symphonic terrain on 8 July. After him is the Banda Municipal de Barcelona, directed by Ricardo Casero. The concert will take place atTeatre Grec at 10pm. At the same time and at the same venue on the following day, Catalan pop-folk group Blaumut will be presenting their latest album Equilibri, as well as older favourites.

And the music will continue 24 hours later at Teatre Grec with Italian singer-songwriter, composer and multi-instrumentalist Vinicio Capossela, who will be previewing the songs on his double disc of folk music that is due for release in September. Moving to a different artistic field, on 12 and 13 July, Teatre Grec will be hosting performances by Groupe Acrobatique de Tanger, with the vertiginous pyramids and spectacular acrobatics of their high voltage show Halka.

Returning to the world of music, the ex-leader of Kortatu and Negu Gorriak, Fermín Muguruza, twho will be appearing alongside the Micaela Chalmeta Big Band, made up of 18 female and 2 male musicians who are all ex-students or collaborators at the Taller de Músics school.

Our selection draws to a close on 16 July with Tempo de Luz, featuring three of the finest voices in contemporary flamenco, which will also be performed on the stage at Teatre Grec. The singers will be Carmen Linares, Arcángel and Marina Heredia, accompanied by dancer Ana Morales, and with musical direction by Isidro Muñoz.
