Damon McMahon, the front man for Amen Dunes

Amen Dunes bring their creative freedom to Barcelona

The band headed by Damon McMahon present their latest album 'Freedom' at La [2] at Apollo.

With Damon McMahon as the undisputed leader, flanked by Jordi Wheeler and Parker Kindred, US indie rock band Amen Dunes will be in Barcelona on 24 September to present their latest album Freedom, their fifth since debuting back in 2009. The doors at La [2] will open at 8pm, but before Amen Dunes take the stage, the audience will be able to savour some romantic pop by Lauren Auder, a young musical artist who was born in the UK but who currently resides in France and has opened for McMahon and company on various occasions on the current tour.

The organizers present Amen Dunes's show as a "musicolergic experience", in which the audience will perceive reality from the point of view of the band's singer and songwriter: a kaleidoscopic reality that is "enlarged, broken up, multiplied and, above all, improved." Eleven songs make up Freedom, featuring darker moods than on previous albums and which musically represent a certain change or evolution, with a greater presence of electronics. The characters that populate McMahon's lyrices lie halfway between fantasy and reality, as he juggles with issues like male identity and childhood friends who ended up in jail.
