Fourth edition of the Premis Zirkòlika de Circ de Catalunya (Catalan Circus Awards)

The awards ceremony for the Zirkòlika Awards will be held in the Circo Raluy tent on the 17th of December and will include dinner and a two-hour performance

Circus Night comes to Barcelona once again. The awards ceremony for the Premis Zirkòlika de Circ de Catalunya, the Catalan Circus Awards, will be held on Tuesday the 17th of December, in the Circ Raluy tent on Moll de la Fusta in Port Vell, Barcelona.

With Marcel Gros and Las Divinas as masters of ceremony, Circus Night, which has been organised by the magazine Zirkòlika in collaboration with a number of other organisations, will include, in addition to the awards ceremony, a gala dinner and a performance created especially for the occasion.

The performance is directed by Jordi Purtí and includes a selection of the cream of Catalan circus performers including the Psirc Company and Zirkus Frac, prize-winning artists from last year. A total of fifteen artists will combine their specialities to the accompaniment of live music during a two-hour, one-off performance that will set the stage for the presentation of the awards in ten different categories.

This year’s novelty takes the form of a Special Audience Award which will be decided on the night and will depend on the amounts raised through the crowd-funding website, Verkami, which will remain open until the last possible moment. In addition, at some point during the evening, circus performer Jesse will attempt to beat the Guinness human flag record by holding himself in the required position for more than a minute.
