The Festival of Science, Technology and Innovation of Barcelona within the PRO NOVUM wanted to bring research and business to all public encouraging them to seek innovative solutions.
Forum Demand Innovation was held on Thursday, April 30 at DHub Barcelona under the Novum, the festival of science, technology and innovation driven by BCN Innovació. During the day, 10 companies submitted 15 challenges to researchers, research centers, entrepreneurs and spin-offs, with a very clear objective, to solve these challenges.
Inés Garriga, Director of Creativity and Innovation Institute of Culture of Barcelona City Council, gave the welcome ceremony, and said -"We want to transform Barcelona into the capital of citizen science" - . Then, Josep M. Piqué, vice president of the International Association of Science Parks and Areas (IASP) presented the European Open Innovation Guide which seeks to connect the world demand with science and technology.
Then we had two tables in which companies could present their challenges. The first panel was chaired by Ricard Jiménez, Eurocat and scientific director of the Foundation ASCAMM participated companies like Agbar, Neos Surgery, Inprous, KH Lloreda and Factor Energia. After that, Daniel Furlan, member of the Executive Committee and president of PIMEC PIMEC2020 chaired the second of the tables, made by companies such as GB Foods, Lékué, La Fura dels Baus, Cava Bohigas and the Guild of Bakers of Barcelona.
From now until June 5 people can send projects to address the challenges through an online platform. The selected projects will be informed by email at the end of June and during the BizBarcelona b2b meetings between companies and selected projects will consult.
