Club Tarantos

A Flamenco Christmas at Club Tarantos

Lorena Oliva and José Manuel Álvarez to star in this classic show until 1 January

Barcelona is one of the world capitals of flamenco and its flamenco clubs, known as tablaos, regularly play host to some of the most charismatic groups and performers. And especially for the festive season, Club Tarantos is hosting Flamenco Christmas BCN from 26 December to 1 January, with sessions at 8.30, 9.30 and 10.30 starring Lorena Oliva and José Manuel Álvarez, two dancers who are steeped in flamenco tradition but are unafraid of approaching the genre with an innovative spirit that has led them to collaborate with figures like Antonio Canales, Las Migas, Roxane Butterfly and Hamid Khabbazi.

Oliva and Álvarez, a Catalan and Sevillan, will be joined for this Christmas special by singers Thais Hernández and David Pérez, and musicians José Saucedo (guitar), Gloria Wasmer (violin) and Raúl Manchón (percussion). The show features all of the rhythms or palos of flamenco, including jaleos, bulerías, fandangos and farrucas, making for a traditional way to celebrate Christmas with a genre exudes art and passion.
