One of the works on display in 'El Bosc Blanc'

The first Jaume Plensa exhibition in Barcelona for 7 years

Galeria Senda, which is celebrating its 25th anniversary, will host the exhibition of sculptures 'El Bosc Blanc'

Jaume Plensa (Barcelona, 1955) is one of the best-known and most highly-considered contemporary sculptors and his works can be found in public spaces in many cities in the world. But he has not exhibited in his hometown for a period of seven years, which is now coming to an end with the exhibition El Bosc Blanc, which can be seen at Galeria Senda from 17 November 2016 to 21 January 2017.

In El Bosc Blanc, Plensa uses portraits of girls to create figures in wood that are then transposed into bronze. They are then finished in white with the aim of lending them a certain sweetness and serenity. These faces, which are of girls aged from 8 to 14, are portrayed with their eyes shut in order, according to the artist, to “underline the inner voice, the soul that resides within the darkness of our bodies”.

This is Plensa’s first exhibition at Galeria Senda, and it coincides with the 25th anniversary of this venue devoted to contemporary art. Located at 32 Carrer de Trafalgar, the gallery is open from 11am to 8pm Tuesday to Friday and from 11am to 2.30pm and 3.30pm to 8pm on Saturdays.
