 D'A Festival 2017

The finest art films another year at D’A

The festival continues to consolidate its position as one of the unmissable events for Barcelona’s film fans

Slowly but surely the D’A Festival has become one of the main events of the year for Barcelona’s films fans. Because while fantastic film fans have the Sitges Festival, and music films fans have In-Edit, in D’A, auteur film fans have a festival that will one day vie with the likes of Toronto and Rotterdam. Meanwhile Barcelona can enjoy a series of high quality premieres that have bypassed the normal cinema circuits and many of which have never been seen in Spain.

An example is a new film by cult British director Ben Wheatley, responsible for titles such as High-Rise and Down Terrace, whose Free Fire stars Brie Larson, who won an Oscar for his performance in The Room. Other major titles in this year’s edition include Lady Macbeth, directed by William Oldroyd and inspired by a novel by Nikolai Lesbov, Personal Shopper, a new film by Olivier Assayas starring Kristin Stewart, and 20th Century Women by Mike Mills.

The festival’s programme is extensive and features a carefully selected representation of the independent cinema being made in Europe, Asia and America. Additional information is available from the D’A website, where you can also buy tickets.
