The final days of the Grec Festival

The festival’s 40th anniversary edition concludes with a celebration in Plaça Margarida Xirgu

Barcelona’s Grec Festival is entering its final week with a strong line-up that features some of the most attractive performances and events of the festival, including a free closing celebration in Plaça de Margarida Xirgu featuring Chico Trujillo on 31 July with danceable sounds from Chile.

Other highlights of the week include the prestigious Argentinean director Mario Pensotti, with Cuando vuelva voy a ser otro, which offers a fresh look at his country’s history. Circus is also on the agenda, with the premiere of Guadual by Leandro Mendoza, the story of a company of artists who find themselves lost in nature, and Claudia by La Conquesta del Pol Sud, a stage documentary about an Argentinean girl who is the daughter of the deseparecidos and is brought up by people involved in the country’s military regime.

Finally, the final week of the festival sees performances by groups like Ray Cuza & Septeto Sazonando de Cuba (Harlem Jazz Club, 28 July), St. Paul and The Broken Bones (BARTS, 28 July) and a long-awaited appearance by Catalan group Manel on 31 July.
